Connecting People With God

SPOTLIGHT ON EVERGREEN BAPTIST CHURCH (Click here for a scan of the article)
Around the Franklin Baptist Association there are several churches that are engaged in ministries and missions. This issue we will spotlight just one of them. The Evergreen Baptist Church has been without a pastor since August 2007. The church has, however carried on under the leadership of the interim pastor, Tyree Denney and the leadership in the church. The Lord has blessed the church with every capable leadership. Below is a list of ministries and missions projects that they are involved in: 1. Food Pantry 2. Missions – usually 1 or 2 long distance (150 mi.) mission trips annually. Just returned from New Orleans where we worked with other churches from KY for Disaster Relief (SBC) AND THE “NOAH” PROJECT. 3. Local Missions – “Helping Hands” ministry, as requested. This ministry is local and performs usually small projects, with a small number of people, and in a relatively short time. 4. Church Training – currently offering Financial Peace University to about 15 families. 5. Benevolence – local area, rent, utilities, etc., in conjunction with ROSM. 6. AWANA – children’s program 7. Community Day – annual, local Following is a list of things that WMU has sponsored for our church. These are for the past year. (*) Indicates ongoing. Eliza Broadus Offering, Lottie Moon Offering, Annie Armstrong Offering, Prayer Retreat at Cedarmore, Collected School Supplies to give out to Baby Boot Camp (collected baby items for unwed teenage mothers), Baby bottles for Pregnancy Center, *Boxes to Soldiers, Christmas card Post Office, *Give to Missionaries- Schumacher’s monthly (a family in Eastern KY we support monthly with money and gifts at Christmas), Brought food for Food Pantry, Collected items for Carolyn Lynn’s brother, Freeda Harris collection (gifts for teens and food a Center in east KY, *Take food in the event of sickness and death in the family to the home, Women’s Shelter (collected personal items), *Collect can tops and give to the local hospital (for dialysis’ patients), and *Collect box tops for Education (send these to Oneida). |
