Best of Frankfort 2008 Youth Organization
Congratulations to Evergeen Baptist Church's Youth Group for winning the Best of Frankfort 2008 Youth Organization!
WASHINGTON D.C., August 8, 2008 -- Evergreen Baptist Church has been
selected for the 2008 Best of Frankfort Award in the Youth Organizations
category by the U.S. Local Business Association.**
The U.S. Local Business Association’s Award titled "Best of Frankfort"
Honors the Achievements of an outstanding Youth Organization in the
Frankfort and Franklin County area. This years recipient is the Evergreen
Baptist Church Youth Group. The Evergreen Youth, headed up by Youth and
Children's Minister Karen McCracken, has made great strides in the last
year. Through local and state-wide service projects, the Youth Group has
grown into a Missions-minded group of students. The Youth have worked
locally in the past year on yards and homes in their surrounding
neighborhood, had prayer walks through local neighborhoods and around the
State Capitol Building and served numerous times at Wayside Christian
Mission in Louisville as well as at the local Soup Kitchen. Most recently
the Youth went for a week of Missions work with the homeless and doing
construction in Nashville Tennessee.
Evergreen Baptist Church also hosts a quarterly Youth praise and worship
night for students of all ages and denominations, which they have cleverly
coined "Friday Night LIGHT" (FNL). FNL kicks off each event with a
Christian Comedian, Youth Praise Dancers, food and fellowship and rounds
out the night with a Worship Concert. The events are free to everyone and
the success of these events has been one of the reasons this local Youth
Organization has grown by leaps and bounds in the past year and a half.
Evergreen's next Friday Night LIGHT is scheduled for September 19th from 7
